Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd., (Headquarters: Tokyo, President: Yasuhiko Saitoh) has recently developed a thermal interface silicone rubber sheet, “TC-BGI series”, for applications in vehicle components electrical as technology of high voltage devices is progressing.

Currently, the demand for electric cars is increasing, starting with electric vehicles (EVs), and in the future, further widespread market growth is expected. Components used in electric cars need to be smaller and lighter, and to increase energy density, high voltage is needed for system voltage.

In order to meet these requirements, Shin-Etsu Chemical has continued to develop thermal interface silicone materials that can be used as heat dissipation measures for components of electric cars for which high voltage requirements are increasing.

This new product, “TC-BGI Series”, is a high hardness thermal interface silicone rubber sheet which has the combined characteristics of high voltage endurance and thermal conductivity which are achieved by means of our company’s technologies. , and this new product is available in 2 thicknesses: 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm.

The main features of this new product are:

1. It achieves voltage endurance assurance which is at the highest level in the industry. We can ensure voltage endurance of 3 kV with 0.2 mm thickness and 5 kV with 0.3 mm thickness over the entire surface of a sheet. Additionally, we are in the process of developing a product that will provide voltage endurance greater than 4kV with 0.2mm thick sheet metal over the entire surface of the sheet metal.

2. It has a high thermal conductivity of 7W/m・K.

3. It has high hardness and at the same time high strength, and its workability is superior to that of the pad type.

4. Compared with non-silicone type, it is superior in long-term reliability.

In order to enhance the performance and reliability of an automobile, heat dissipation material is essential, and various products and technologies to realize heat dissipation are being developed.
