Unpacking

The set comes in a Maono branded compact cardboard case. The amount of stuff they have included in such a small package is quite impressive. The set includes the Maono E2 audio interface, PM320T microphone and stand. Included accessories include XLR cable, pop filter, shock mount, headphones and some other necessary cables.

E2 audio interface

The sound interface is at the heart of the E2 bundle and is where most of the operations take place. The interface includes an XLR input, a quarter-inch instrument cable input, a 3.5mm mic input, an Aux input, a speaker monitor output, and 2 headphone jack inputs to the front of the interface. You also get 3 mic settings for your mic inputs which include 40dB, 50dB, and 60dB gain options.

The interface has a USB C port which allows it to connect to your laptop/PC/Mac and there is also a DC 5V charging socket. The interface does not charge itself when connected to your laptop/PC/Mac, which is one of the disadvantages of the interface.

Features:

There are 6 buttons present on the E2. 3 EQ knobs, one for instrument volume, one for adjusting pitch and one for monitoring output volume. The 2 large dials present on either side of the E2 are for the AUX input and the output volume.

There are 4 buttons present on the interface. 3 of them are used to record up to 1 min of samples and one of them is the loop button to loop those samples. There are 8 other buttons which also record samples but last up to 20 seconds. These buttons come in very handy when streaming on platforms like Twitch where you can loop instrumentals for the intro and also load multiple samples for various effects in the 8 buttons provided below.

The 2 faders on the left are for the 2 mic input levels and the button below is for providing phantom power to your mics. Maonocaster E2 can also be paired with other devices via Bluetooth. On the right side of the interface, you will find 3 buttons that control Pad Vol, Depth and Decay Time. The Pad vol as shown takes care of the volumes of the 3+8 buttons present. The Depth and Decay Time knobs are for the Reverb presets. Next to it is the sidechain button which is an extremely useful feature as it reduces the volume of music playing when speaking into the microphone. The music only button is interesting and tries to remove vocals from the background track. The wet-dry button is for the mic input and only outputs the dry signal when activated. The Loopback button records system sounds using the USB C cable. The Noise Canceling button filters out background noise.

The audio interface also features an autotune button that allows you to tune your voice into one of 12 labeled keys. The feature comes in handy for singers who live stream on Twitch or any other social media platform.

The headphones that come with it are of good quality, the mids and highs are well balanced but it struggles to provide a good bass response. The build quality of the headphones isn’t great either. The wires are not durable enough to withstand rough handling.

As soon as you connect the Maonocaster E2 with your system, the audio driver is automatically detected. Once detected, you can use any audio processing or streaming software such as OBS.

Price

The Maonocaster E2 Single Mic Bundle is priced at $169.99. The features of the Maonocaster E2 are unmatched by any podcasting package you can get at this price.
