ABSTRACT-

Global IP Interface Market to Reach $1.5 billion by 2026
Intellectual property (IP) in general terms refers to a patent, which establishes ownership of knowledge and also provides protection for it. In the fields of semiconductors and EDA (electronic design automation), the term refers to a pre-packaged design or verification unit that is available for licensing. A semiconductor intellectual property core refers to a reusable unit of integrated circuit (IC chip) design, logic, or cell configuration. Also referred to as IP core or IP block, semiconductor intellectual property core may be used solely by the intellectual property owner or may be licensed by the intellectual property owner to other parties. With modern IC designs emphasizing the integration of more and more system functionality into a single chip (system-on-chip or SoC), pre-engineered IP cores have become relevant and important. IP cores can be used as building blocks in field-programmable gate array (FPGA) logic designs or application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) designs. Interface IP refers to the IP core for interfaces such as Ethernet, DDR4/LPDDR4, HDMI, USB3/2, PCIe3, SATA, BT Dual Mode, ZigBee, Wi-Fi and SD/SDIO. As modern electronic systems are manufactured in many designs and with various functional attributes, different interfaces assume significance in different product verticals, which makes the IP interface extremely relevant.

Amid COVID-19 crisis, Global IP Interface Market Estimated at US$1.0 billion in 2022, is expected to reach a revised size of US$1.5 billion by 2026, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.3% over the analysis period. United States represents the largest regional market for IP interface and is expected to reach US$456.6 million by 2026. China is expected to spearhead the growth and become the fastest growing regional market with a CAGR of 15.2% over the analysis period. The market is mainly driven by the growing demand for modern SoC (System on a chip) chips. Over the years, semiconductor chip manufacturers have engaged in the development of SoC technology, to meet the growing demand for integrating an increasing range of functions into a single integrated circuit.

Driven by the constant efforts of semiconductor chip manufacturers to develop advanced SoC chips, SoC designers are required to use high-quality IP blocks to reduce risk in design integration, thus fueling the growth of the IP interface market. Another market growth factor is the growing demand for a range of smart consumer electronics and versatile communication devices, which will further drive the demand for SoCs. Several smart electronics manufacturers are increasingly looking to integrate SoCs into various devices, including smartphones, wireless communication systems, telemetry devices, and EKG devices, among others. Additionally, with an increasing number of mixed-signal SoC manufacturers incorporating an ever-increasing number of features on a single chip at a moderate cost, the penetration of SoCs in various applications continues to grow. This should further contribute to the demand for IP interface in the years to come. Increase in IoT deployments, growing popularity of mobile computing devices, and increasing adoption of IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) as a replacement for IPv4 are also driving the growth of the IP interface market. With such advancements leading to the growing number of hosts connected to the Internet, the amount of data transmitted and overall network traffic continues to grow at an exponential rate. This has consequently boosted the deployment of next-generation wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) and ZigBee, as well as wireless standards such as 4G and 5G across the globe. These wireless technologies and standards provide wireless connectivity similar to broadband connections. Driven by the rapid increase in demand for wireless technologies, the IP interface market is experiencing healthy growth.

Developed regions of North America and Europe capture a huge share of the global interface IP market. The large share of these regions is mainly attributed to the presence of a number of fabless semiconductor companies. The emerging economies of Asia Pacific are likely to present significant growth opportunities for the Interface IP market, particularly in countries such as Taiwan and China. With Asian countries like China, Japan, Taiwanand South Korea Being hubs of electronic device manufacturing activity, the demand for IP interface is expected to increase in the coming years. After
