Capsa Healthcare Announces Enhancement of Kirby Lester KL1Plus with Bi-Directional Interface to McKesson EnterpriseRx Software

Kirby Lester KL1Plus with two-way interface

This new bi-directional interface unleashes the full power of the KL1Plus

Capsa Healthcare, a leading innovator in healthcare delivery solutions for pharmacists and hospital practitioners, announced its Kirby Lester KL1Plus Prescription Filling Device is enhanced with a new two-way interface to the widely used McKesson EnterpriseRx pharmacy management software. This is a significant advantage for retail pharmacies to maximize the versatility of the KL1Plus device in pharmacies using EnterpriseRx.

Capsa’s new bi-directional Kirby Lester interface allows pharmacies to fully connect the Verification-Plus-Rx KL1Plus counting device; Now all patient prescription fill data will be transferred instantly between the KL1Plus and the pharmacy system. EnterpriseRx is a cloud-based system for centralizing pharmacy operations, prescription drug dispensing, data, and reporting. EnterpriseRx is a popular system with pharmacies operating in multiple locations.

“One of the main reasons a pharmacy uses EnterpriseRx is for data management. The same goes for why they will now benefit from installing a Kirby Lester KL1Plus device physically fill all patient prescriptions. This new bi-directional interface unleashes the full power of the KL1Plus,” said Christopher Thomsen, vice president of business development for Capsa Healthcare’s pharmacy automation business, which includes the Kirby Lester suite of automated technologies. “Now, with the KL1Plus connected to EnterpriseRx, everything about the status of a prescription fill is tracked and shared in real time. In today’s typical hectic pharmacy environment, this interface mitigates voltages, avoids Rx padding errors and improves workflow.

When a Kirby Lester KL1Plus device is installed in an EnterpriseRx operating pharmacy, the device becomes the primary workstation allowing technicians to fill 100% of patient prescriptions. Once a technician completes a patient script on the KL1Plusd, the device reports to EnterpriseRx’s pharmacy verification feature. The new two-way interface removes an entire manual step from the process that is a potential source of errors and wasted time. The interface also reduces waiting times at the pharmacy checkpoint. Additionally, the pharmacist reviewing a patient’s completed order will see all treatment information for complete transparency:

  • Status of each prescription in real time from start to finish
  • Which pharmacy technician filled the patient’s prescription
  • Filling time
  • Exact drug filled
  • Exact quantity (partially filled or overfilled scripts will be highlighted)
  • If double counting was done (for example, for a controlled or high value drug)
  • Any alerts or errors during the filling process
  • The KL1Plus can also act as a pharmacy Electronic C-II Journal for comprehensive management of controlled medications

“Pharmacies operating EnterpriseRx but still filling prescriptions manually are at a disadvantage,” says Thomsen. “With the KL1Plus device supporting all prescriptions and reporting all data to EnterpriseRx, pharmacists in this location instantly have complete data and status of every Rx. This removes ambiguity, guesswork, and finding missing data. »

Capsa Healthcare will participate in the NACDS Total Store Expo pharmacy conference in Boston, MA, with demonstrations of its prescription filling technology.
